Privacy Policy

This page describes how the personal data of visitors to openhardwarelab.org is processed, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

Data controller

The data controller is Fabio Tibollo (Open Hardware Lab). For any request concerning your personal data, write to info@openhardwarelab.org.

Data we process

Community subscription (“Keep me updated”)

When you subscribe, we store your email address, the subscription status, date and time, your IP address and the exact consent text you accepted. The subscription is confirmed via double opt-in. Purpose: sending updates about Open Hardware Lab projects, courses, events and the EnergySnap Kickstarter campaign. Legal basis: your explicit consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR). Retention: until you withdraw consent — every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link; unconfirmed requests are deleted automatically after 7 days. Your address will never be used for external advertising nor shared with third parties.

Contact forms

If you contact us through a form, we process the data you provide (such as name, email address and the content of your message) for the sole purpose of replying to your request. Legal basis: taking steps at your request (art. 6.1.b GDPR). Retention: for the time necessary to handle the request.

Comments

If you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name and email address you provide, the comment text and your IP address, in order to display the comment and to prevent abuse and spam. Legal basis: legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f GDPR). You may request the deletion of your comments at any time.

Server logs

The hosting infrastructure automatically records technical access logs (IP address, browser type, requested pages) for security and diagnostic purposes. Legal basis: legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f GDPR). Logs are kept for the limited period defined by the hosting provider.

Recipients and data processors

Data is stored on servers located in the European Union, managed by our hosting provider Netsons S.r.l. (Italy), acting as data processor. Confirmation and update emails are delivered through the site email (SMTP) service. We do not sell or share your data for marketing purposes, and we do not transfer your data outside the European Union.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase and receive a copy of your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw your consent at any time (art. 15–22 GDPR), by writing to info@openhardwarelab.org. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority (Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali, www.garanteprivacy.it).
