About Us

Open Hardware Lab is an open-source ecosystem dedicated to electronics and IoT. We believe technology is best learned by doing: every project we publish is documented end to end β€” schematics (KiCad), PCB, bill of materials, firmware and companion apps β€” so that anyone can build it, study it and customize it.

The co-founders

Open Hardware Lab was founded by Fabio Tibollo and Grabiel Alvarez, two technology enthusiasts who share the same conviction: open hardware is the best way to learn real-world electronics and to give back to the maker community. Fabio is also the author of the course-book β€œIOT from ZERO to HERO”, which walks readers through the full development of the first Open Hardware Lab project, EnergySnap.

Our purpose

The purpose of our community is simple: to make practical electronics accessible to everyone. We design real, useful devices and release everything open, we teach how they are built through courses and detailed guides, and we grow together β€” members share their builds, improvements and ideas, and the best contributions flow back into the projects. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned maker, join the community and build with us.
